Managing the Financial Investment of a multilateral global institution for the past 3 plus decades….

Safeguarding the liquid assets has been the primary mission, safeguarding meant establishing both physical and economic safeguards, initially the financial assets had to be protected against inflation. Direct investments in agricultural projects are a long drawn out process especially so in the less developed, emerging and frontier markets. This involves feasibility studies, approvals, finding reliable partners, establishing the entity and many mopre hurdles before the project is operational. Therefore it was eventually decided by the Board of Shareholders to invest the financial assets in financial investments to generate some revenue. Also since the agri-projects had long gestation periods revenue from the agri-projects were very little and could not sustain the entity. Hence to keep the entity as a”Going concern” the financial investments had to be invested to also create revenue for administrative expenses. The Board also approved a 5% p.a. dividend to be paid to all shareholders nations. The organization had paid out the entire share capital as dividends by the year 2013.

Enhance Corporate Risk Management

The best personal investment one can make is in oneself has been my motto through out my career, so i continued to upgrade my skills with courses relevant to my duties & Responsibilities at the organization. At some stage i acquired the Doctorate in Finance degree, which allows me to teach occassionally when time permits. I have successfully completed courses in Data-science for business application (2021), Tableau (2022), investment compliance (2011), Financial asset management & Engineering (2006), I am currently pursuing a course in Applied Financial Risk Analytics from IIM Kashipur since the organization is implementing an Enterprise Risk Management program to enhance risk management.

I also believe teaching is the best way to learn. I would spend several hours in preparation everyday for the various courses I have taught at undergraduate and graduate level for the past decade or so. Most of the graduate levels courses were specialization subjects and usually required more meticulous preparation which obviously benefited me a lot in getting a better perspective on financial investments.

We at aaaid.org managed to generate gains of US$ 565 million for the period 1996 to 2022.

Dividends paid out amounted to US$ 477 Million circa this was completed in 2013!

I have worked very closely on the financial investments of the organization with the Financial Investment Committee and six CEO's/Chairmen of the Board

I joined the multi-lateral organization in March 1991 as an Investment Officer and have progressed to the role of CIO sometime in 2010, I continue to serve the organization for the past 32 years!!!

Acquired a B.Sc., MBA (PGDBA) & and a Diploma in Computer Applications in the early and mid 80's and MBA in 1980's.
